This itinerary can be adapted around your curriculum, group requirements and preferred travel dates.

Day 1

Arrival in Cairo

Arrive in Cairo, meet your local representative and transfer to your accommodation. Settle in and prepare for a journey combining ancient history, Nile landscapes and the Red Sea coast.

Pyramids, Sphinx and Saqqara

Explore the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx before travelling to Memphis and Saqqara. Examine how Egyptian architecture, religion and royal authority developed over thousands of years.

Cairo’s Heritage

Discover ancient artefacts and stories at one of Cairo’s leading museums. Continue to the historic Citadel and a significant mosque before experiencing the atmosphere, crafts and trading traditions of Khan el-Khalili Bazaar.

Cairo to Aswan

Fly to Aswan and board the Nile cruise. Visit the High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple, exploring themes of engineering, archaeology, water management and cultural preservation.

Kom Ombo

Sail to Kom Ombo and explore its distinctive riverside temple, learning about religious beliefs, ancient medicine and the importance of the Nile. Continue sailing towards Edfu.

Edfu and Luxor

Visit the Temple of Edfu before continuing to Luxor. Explore Karnak and Luxor temples on the East Bank and discover how these ceremonial sites developed over successive dynasties.

Luxor to the Red Sea

Visit the Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut and Colossi of Memnon on Luxor’s West Bank. Afterwards, travel through the Eastern Desert to the Red Sea resort of Hurghada.

Red Sea Experience

Enjoy a more relaxed day beside the Red Sea. Depending on the final programme, pupils may take part in supervised swimming, a boat excursion, snorkelling or organised activities at the accommodation.

Coastal Leisure and Marine Life

Spend another day enjoying the coast and the facilities available to the group. Optional activities can introduce pupils to the Red Sea’s marine environment and the importance of protecting coral ecosystems.

Return to Cairo

Transfer to Hurghada Airport for the flight back to Cairo. On arrival, continue to the accommodation for the final evening in Egypt.

Departure

Enjoy breakfast before transferring to Cairo International Airport. The group will depart with memories spanning ancient monuments, Nile communities and the natural beauty of the Red Sea.
