Day 1
Arrive in Sarajevo
Welcome to Bosnia and explore the historic capital.
Meet your local representative at Sarajevo International Airport before travelling into the city. After breakfast, begin a guided walk through Baščaršija, Sarajevo’s Ottoman-era Old Town. Discover the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque, Sebilj Fountain, City Hall and the Latin Bridge while learning how the city’s cultures and defining historical events have shaped modern Europe. Continue to Konjic for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 2
Lukomir mountain village
Trek through the highlands to Bosnia’s highest village.
Travel towards Mount Visočica and the village of Umoljani before beginning a guided trek to Lukomir. Set among the dramatic Bjelašnica and Visočica mountains, this protected heritage village offers a remarkable insight into traditional Bosnian highland life. Students will explore the relationship between landscape, community and cultural preservation before returning to the accommodation for dinner.
Day 3
Herzegovina discovery
Explore Blagaj, Mostar and the iconic Stari Most.
Visit Blagaj and the striking Buna River Spring, home to the historic Dervish Tekke. Continue to Mostar to explore its UNESCO-listed Old Bridge, Kujundžiluk bazaar, Kriva Ćuprija and Karađoz-bey Mosque. Guided interpretation reveals the region’s Ottoman heritage, religious diversity and post-war regeneration before the group returns for dinner.
Day 4
Srebrenica and remembrance
A thoughtful study of conflict, memory and reconciliation.
Travel through Eastern Bosnia to the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Centre. Through guided interpretation, historical evidence and personal testimony, students will examine the events of 1995 and their lasting impact. The visit encourages sensitive reflection on genocide, remembrance, peacebuilding and the responsibilities of global citizenship. Return to Sarajevo for the final night.
Day 5
Tunnel of Hope and departure
Conclude the journey with a final story of Sarajevo’s resilience.
After breakfast and check-out, visit Sarajevo’s Tunnel of Hope, subject to flight timings. Students will discover how the tunnel became a vital lifeline during the siege of Sarajevo and reflect on the resilience of ordinary people during conflict. Transfer to Sarajevo International Airport for the return journey to the UK.

The Lukomir walk is generally moderate and can be adapted where possible. Comfortable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are essential.
